DormCo Dorm Bedding Review
Photo courtesy is a retailer of a variety of items specifically for college living.  Anything that you could imagine you need for your dorm room (and things you didn’t know you needed) can be found on their site.  Being a specialty retailer of their brand of dorm bedding, I wanted to review their bedding to see how it stacked up with the competition.

The sheet selection is ample with many different colors, materials and thread counts and the pricing is very reasonable.   DormCo offers a 120 day return policy which is important as most people will want to be sure to order their items early to ensure they have what they want but can’t move in until school opens.

Our test bedding was the Supersoft Twin XL Bedding set which is a 90 GSM microfiber.  There is also an UltraSoft set available for a few dollars more.

The bedding shipped quickly and arrived in two business days in excellent condition.  The set included a flat sheet, fitted sheet and pillow case.

The initial quality out of the package was soft and quiet.  After five washes and dries the sheets came out even softer, on par with Target’s sheets.  Another plus with these sheets is their wrinkle resistance as they look great out of the drier.  DormCo’s construction is different than all the other sheets tested as there is 3/8″ elastic on the corners only and a boxed construction where there is a seam that runs up to the corner and along the side that provides a nice sharp corner when on the bed.

The sheets started out as 40″ X 80.25″.  After five washings and dryings they shrunk very little to 39.5″ X 80″.  Starting weight was 14.6 oz and then reduced to 14.29 oz which is a loss of just 2.12%.  There was no noticeable color change after multiple washings, however it was hard to capture the true color of the blue sheets which were a very nice color.  The best description I can give is the look like the picture below but several shades darker, but not has dark as the picture above.

DormCo’s dorm bedding is made of 100% polyester.  Care instructions state:

  • Machine wash cold with like colors and before first use
  • Use only non-chlorine bleach when needed
  • Tumble dry low
  • Remove promptly
  • Warm iron as needed

My review of the DormCo bedding was very positive.  The sheets are a high quality product, quite soft and they even offer softer sheets for a small amount more, but after trying these, I don’t know that the extra is necessary.
